INVITATION: Barefoot Creatives will bring a new creative venture to Mérida, Venezuela called "RESPETO" (5th Barefoot Creatives in this world but the 1st one in Venezuela)... it’ll be based on artistic interpretations as an answer to the present lack of social respect in many of our towns... What does bother you socially nowadays ? when have you felt disrespected or ashamed by seeing someone else being disrespected? does lack of politeness on custumer service bother you? what about cell phones being answer on cinemas and theatres while the show or movie is on?... those are just examples of what is going on... but there are endless possibilities to explore on RESPECT!. This event is nothing about conquests but an individual and group expression to make concious society about its faults, to open audience eyes to the lack of sensitivity towards enterteiners and people that surround us all... From today onwards you could start sending me your CVs and proposals (no more than 7min for performers and video artists, and no more than 3 pieces per visual artist and photographers). We started a process of community work and performance, that has been confirmed as a potential mine for art research through Descalzos Creativos 2005 "Behind The Threshold" and "Four Temperaments/Four Elements" during summer 2007. Both events have gave us a great reference of success! We had the presence in London and Stourbridge of mime, dance, eurythmy, performancec, painting, photography, printing, music and words. Everything coming from countries like: Venezuela, Uk, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Spain, Japan; working under the challenge of distance, internet possibilities and individual commitment.

Now is the time for Descalzos Creativos 2009, which will have as artists involve: CASTADIVA (Dance, Argentina), PUROPIE Danza Contemporanea (Dance, Venezuela), RAIZ DE AGUA (Dane/Music, Venezuela/Brazil), Fatima Gomez (Dance, Portugal), Darwin Diaz (Dance. Venezuela/Germany), Carolina Restrepo (Visual Artist, Switzerland), Dioberma Diaz (Visual Artist, Venezuela), Shaila Shariff (Photographer, England), Tomie Ando (Eurythmist, Japan), Dio Mock (Visual artist/performer, Germany), Monika Miha'lyfi (Ceramist, Hungary), Joel Aragon (Dancer/Eurytmist, Mexico), Lixse Aguilar (Dancer, Venezuela), Freddy Nanez (Poet, Venezuela), Carolina de Luca (dancer, Argentina).

DESCALZOS CREATIVOS IN WEIMAR 2008

"Descalzos creativos" is among everything, a moment of colective expression, a place for artistic dialogue between nations, an event where senses are more than welcome, a place to explore creativity as a tool for integration and human development. Open to individual and global proposals, invitations, sugestions, tours, transcitions, DONATIONS!!!, positive changes and all what could encorage us to grow.
During Autumn 2008 Descalzos Creativos (visual seccion) will be part of a colective exhibition in Weimar (Germany). Represented by a group of talented artists, some of which were part of the event in 2007 and new people who apply to be part of it in 2009. Some of the names that will be exhibiting with us there, are: Paul Gittins (visual performance, UK), Joel Aragon (dancer, Mexico), Dio Mock (Visual art, Germany), Dioberma Diaz (Painting, Venezuela/Germany), Jamie Duncombe (Film Maker & Actor, UK), Toni Bihler (Video Art, Germany), Carolina Restrepo (Grafic Design and painting, Switzerland/ Venezuela), Monika Miha'lyfi (Ceramist, Hungary), Sally Paterson (Fabric Printing, UK), Shaila Shariff (Photograoher,UK), Fung Ye Tsang (Visual artist, Uk), Arisitides Stornelli (Painter, Venezuela/Spain) & Tibaire Useche (production y photography, Venezuela/UK).
All this realy a part from pleasing us, will open new doors to a new audience and possibilities for the whole team even for the following year.

END OF APPLICATION TIME FOR DESCALZOS CREATIVOS 2009

This year is being incredible in terms of the artistic and human support we have recived so far. We have closed time for porposals and we are gladly sorprise with the level and amount of proposals we have over the table by artists from places like: Argentina, Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico, Pakistan, India, Germany, japan, Switzerland, Hungary, among others... Thank you so much!!! we'll be pulishing the list of names that will take part of Descalzos Creativos 2009 "Belonging/Individuality" very shortly.

Barefoot Creatives Application and Proposal time for "Belonging/individuality" 2009,
which will take place during autumn 2009.

This call is to any professional artist (dancer, painter, graphic designer, video-art, etc) who wants to be part of a unique opportunity of enriching artistic expression through a high level of international collaborative experience. Also, Barefoot Creatives 2009 is a chance to discover the treasure behind multidisciplinary-multicultural art work, based on a shared theme.

Requirements:

Artist CV and Dossier.
Video, letter, pictures and/or design with "Belonging/Individuality" Proposal
Motivation letter (English) explaining what does "Belonging/Individuality" mean to you?
A letter in which the artist commits to cover its own international transport and personal expensses.

Every artist who wants to be part of this event needs to be:

Active Professional Artist, Age 18+
People interested on artistic co production ( "Belonging/ Individuality") and multicultural exchange
Each artist needs to cover their own international transport when needed and all the personal expenses during the event.
Able to communicate either in English or Spanish

Application Deadline: April 1st 2008.

Selected artists will be informed through email from July 2008.

The pictures above are some of the images reflecting the product of 6 month research within different art disciplines, working under the challenge of distance and individual commitment. We are very pleased with results and we want to express our gratitude to the London audience, Venezuelan Embassy, Stourbridge Town Hall, Londondance.com, London magazine, London Express Newss, Stourbridge News, and Park Road Pilot support, at the same time to express gratitude to a group of people who supported and helped us a lot before, during and after the event: Carolina Restrepo (without her marketing wouldn't been possible! my greatest support the whole time), Joel Aragon, Marcia Torres, Jonas, Ryszard Rojewski, Greg Bold, Alberto Fuentes, Peter Jordan, Georgina Big, Michael Crouch and my apollogises if I am forgeting someone, I thank you very much too!

"Barefoot Creatives/Descalzos Creativos" will have a moment of collective expression, having as an aim the showing and promoting of Latin American, native and/or foreign creativity in European lands. Meeting different art dissiplines within same space and theme, to find the truth in each of us within artistic expression. Understanding "truth" not as something you get from art critics judgment, but as that product you get by reveling your soul without intentional formulas, but full of naivity, inner investigation, love for creation and a longing for social contribution. "Truth" as a social archetype.
"Barefoot Creatives/Descalzos Creativos" started as Tibaire Useche's Dream of creating a multidisciplinary performance in which the audience could live the performance space with all their senses and the artist could approach each theme from a completely different background, point of view and way of expression.
Last year we make the first performance-research at Bailey Gallery in Stourbridge Town, having as research theme "Behind the threshold". As the response of the audience and artists in that opportunity was so positive and encouraging we will have a second moment of collective expression in which one of the aims is the showing and promoting of Latin American, native and/or foreign creativity in European lands.
This time we are working with "4 Temperaments, 4 Elements" as motor theme. Four temperaments is a subject which has been studied by many, all through the course of history, and which describes the 4 main characters present in human beings (choleric, phlegmatic, sanguine and melancholic), also 4 elements present in nature (fire, water, air and earth) and their effect on the human being.
Each artist (plastic or performer) have the freedom to approach this subject in a very personal way, they could express the colours present on temperaments (red, green, yellow and blue), taking on board exaggerate emotions from the temperaments (anger, sadness, passivity on the limit and hyperactive joyfulness) or the most positive side of them (leadership and drive of the choleric, introspective, fun, extroversive and active sanguine or the patience, dedication and perseverance of the phlegmatic)
Each person would have chosen different elements on the theme, using completely different materials, starting points and art disciplines; being sincere with what they feel is their way of expressing through art, being free, and creating a truly collective performance.

COLOURS OF THE SOUL

Walking around, in a dayly bases, i get to see hundreds of people coming and going, having nothing to do with each other. Some times it seems all that i can see are colors, moving non stop from one side to the other, showing a special feeling or a way of being on that very particular day.
I found myself asking, how difficult may be for this oriental girls wearing their black dresses?, so sober, slightly shadowy, full of containment and mystery from head to feet, showing just the spark or shadow in their eyes between the tiny space that give them that freedom of showing the colours of their souls daily. I could see their eyes, some times black, sometimes brown, blue, green, yellow....discovering tenderness, naivety, strength, coldness, hate, rigidity, misunderstanding, injustice, love, or any other feeling contain in their vision and hearts.. how amazing power for human communication just through the eyes!!!!! But, if we imaging them not wearing those dresses, mysterious, sober, full of expectancy and misunderstanding from who observe, then, the only thing we'll be able to perceive again would be the external, the colours of their clothing, the quality of their face expressions, all the physical elements that say further less or even nothing about what is within every individual. Even though that is the most common, it seems further more unconfortable to look into their eyes, to feel we are invasive through that sight tunnel ....
How does it feel dressing in black with no luxury or fashion designs? How does it feel look into the world through the tunnel of their clothing? .... to be honest, i am not interested so much in experiencing so, but i would love to know from them, the feeling of living and "facing the world" behind the veil of their culture. I would love to know what is their relation and meaning for black: tradition? Unveil of the true colors of the soul? Diminishing spirit shadows? Is it more easy to keep traditions through black than through white or any other colour? Do they have forbidden more strongly red than yellow? ....
It might all this sound stupid, but actually I believe in colors as reflexion of the soul state, our emotions, our personality. Black for me could be stile, status, at the same time than suffering, grief, introspection, stillness and even anger.... I need to live in full colour, showing my yellow days, my green vital energy, my days of tranquility, peace and balance in white, freshness and fluidity in blue, and so on...have you ever thought about the possibility that clothing factories produce more beige, black, white, brown and grey so that they could keep people as a mass easier to manipulate to polarized? I had thought about it, and I don't like it, but that is a different theme and at the same time the same....Colours belongs to the soul and we should used them all inside and outside!!!! :-)

Old Irish Blessing

I wrote the words of barefoot creatives about the four elements that you see on the previous article, and later on I found myself reading this very beautifull blessing which contains a similar feeling within the four elements as well, it was found in "Notes from a friend" by Anthony Robbins. Therefore, I thought I should share with you this ancient version of my feelings.
